#1 BIRTH

The coming of Mohammed was prophesied in ancient holy texts such as Vedas, Torah and Gospels. He is the last in lines of great messengers sent to Earth by God.

Prophet Muhammad was born in 570. He married at the age of 25. In the year 610, God called Mohammed to begin preaching the divine book, Holy Koran. Prophet taught that there is one true God. God is not two or three or hundred. He is not a trinity. God is single, unique and alone. There is no other god except Him. He has no equals and He has no partners. Idol worship is wrong. God also revealed to His Prophet that there would be a day of judgement to come. After death all souls will rise. They will be held to account for their actions. There is a Heaven, and there is Hell.

These teachings God revealed to Mohammed in his divine book Koran, which is till with us today. When he preached the truth, Prophet faced much opposition. Idol worshippers and corrupt politicians began persecution the Prophet for his message. He had to leave his home. Eventually, Mohammed succeeded in converting whole of Arabia. Soon, the Muslims had spread His message spread to Africa and Asia. Within a few decades, Prophet’s followers ruled far away places from Spain to India. Islam is most successful of all religions.

MOST INFLUENTIAL MAN EVER

Prophet Mohammed is the man who has had most influence on humanity. He is relevant today as he was relevant centuries ago.

Prophet’s message is already the fastest spreading ideology on Earth.

It gives justice, equality, liberty and human rights to people. It stops rulers from corruption and exploiting society. Islam also protects the environment and cares for the planet. It can save human beings, the natural world and protect the Earth. Islam is call of the human soul. It is natural, reasonable and beautiful way of living.

George Bernard Shaw predicted that the day is not far when whole of Europe will follow Prophet Mohammed, the Saviour of Humanity.

There is no doubt that Prophet Mohammed was greatest human to walk the Earth. It is necessary to find out about his life in order to benefit ourselves and others in society.

MOHAMMED PROPHECIED IN ANCIENT BOOKS

Moses and Jesus both knew of coming of Mohammed. They spoke of this great Prophet of God. In the Bible, there are prophecies made by these great holy messengers of God. Of course prophesies have been tempered with. Books have been altered by people. Experts admit that the Bible has been much corrupted scribes and even some Rabbis of the Jewish religion. New Testament was also changed by the priests of the Christian Church. But nevertheless, we can still find references to the rise of a great final Prophet whose mission would be higher than that of Moses, Noah or David or Jesus.

THE TORAH - Holy Book of Jews

Arabs sons of Ishmael are cousins [brethrens] of Jews the sons of Ishaq.

God is here telling Moses to go and tell his people the Jews:

“Like you, I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, and I will put my words in his mouth, and he will speak to them all that I shall command him. And it shall be that I will punish anyone who will not listen to my words, which he will speak in my name.

Here is the full text from the Bible, Book of Deuteronomy:

"A prophet will the Lord your God raise up unto you, from your midst, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall obey; according to all that you had desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying: 'Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.' And the Lord said unto me: 'They have well said that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto you; and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which he shall speak in My name, I will hold him to account."

[Book of Deuteronomy, chapter 18:15-19]

THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE

New Testament – Holy Book of Christians

Saint John writes that Jesus said:

"And whatsoever you ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he lives with you, and shall be in you." [Gospel of Saint John, chapter 14:13-17]

"These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." [Gospel of Saint John, chapter 14:23-26]

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me: And you also shall bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning." [Gospel of Saint John, chapter 15:26,27]

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." [Gospel of Saint John, chapter 16:7,8]

Saint John says:

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." [First Letter of Saint John 4:1-3]

Doctor Bucaille says Jesus Christ did prophesy the coming of Prophet Mohammed. This is clear after reading chapters 14, 15 and 16 in the Gospel of Saint John in the New Testament. The word for the new messenger is Paraclete: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete." (14.15-16)

"But the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you" (14.26). "he will bear witness to me" (15.26). "it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convince the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment . . ." (16.7-8). "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me . . ." (16.13-14).

“The presence of the term 'Holy Spirit' in today's text could easily have come from a later addition made quite deliberately. It may have been intended to change the original meaning which predicted the advent of a prophet subsequent to Jesus and was therefore in contradiction with the teachings of the Christian churches at the time of their formation; these teachings maintained that Jesus was the last of the prophets.”

Saint John is the only person to report this very important prophecy. Saint John reports in his Gospel that Jesus spoke of coming of a new guide who the world must follow. Jesus predicted the advent of a new Prophet at the end of the Last Supper before his arrest and alleged death on the cross. Other three Gospels do not mention this prophesy. Perhaps originally it was in them and the Church removed it for some reason.

Saint John uses the word Paraclete to refer to Jesus as well as to Holy Spirit.

The verb 'to hear’, and ‘to speak’ reveal actions which cannot be applied to a spirit. Jesus meant a man who can hear and speak. If the words 'Holy Spirit' are removed from verse 26 of chapter 14, then prophesy makes complete sense. It is the only place where spirit is mentioned.

Saint John in his First Letter uses 'Paraclete' simply to mean Jesus, the intercessor at God's side. Therefore, what Jesus is saying is that 'another' intercessor will be sent to man, as He Himself was at God's side on man's behalf during His earthly life.

“According to the rules of logic therefore, one is brought to see in John's Paraclete a human being like Jesus, possessing the faculties of hearing and speech formally implied in John's Greek text. Jesus therefore predicts that God will later send a human being to Earth to take up the role defined by John, i.e. to be a prophet who hears God's word and repeats his message to man. This is the logical interpretation of John's texts arrived at if one attributes to the words their proper meaning.” [Dr Maurice Bucaille: “Bible, Quran and Science”]

These were some of the prophecies foretelling the coming of a great Holy Teacher from God. There are other ancient texts that also speak of Blessed Mohammed who would come to guide mankind towards the Truth. In Islamic books Mohammed is considered the Light of God. It is believed that God had created Mohammad before the creations of the Universe.

WHO WAS MOHAMMED?

Mohammed was the messenger of God. His parents were Abdullah and Amina. He was sent by God to mankind to deliver the last Divine Will to humanity by which they would have a life of success and happiness.

Prophet was orphaned at age six. His uncle Abu Talib and his wife cared him for. Prophet married Kadeja who was a pious woman of Mecca. They had one daughter Fatima from whom Prophet’s lineage started. In the year 610, the angel Gabriel informed Mohammed to begin the mission of God. Prophet received revelations and teachings from God. He recorded these in the Quran, Verses of the Quran form the basis of Islam.

Prophet began to preach publicly urging the rich to give to the poor and calling for the end to idol worship. He gained converts but also made enemies who planned to murder him in 622. He was forced to emigrate and move to Medina. This escape marks year one of the Islamic calendar. Prophet followers defended themselves when Meccans attacked them in five major wars. Prophet defeated them and eventually took Mecca by 629.
Prophet died in 632 and was buried at Medina. His life and teachings are devoutly followed by millions of people all over the world. Today, Islam is the fastest growing religion on Earth. Thousand of people convert to message of God as left by His Prophet Mohammed.

# Prophet’s Genealogy

Ibrahim was a great messenger of God. His son was Ismaeel who grew up in Mecca. Ismaeel’s son was Adnan. Adnan had Maad who had Nazar who had Mazar who had Elyas who had Mudrika who had Kozema who had Kinana who had Nadar who had Malik who had Fer who had Ghalib who had Kab who had Mura who had Kilab who had Kusay who had Abd Monaf who had Hashim who had Abdol Muttalib who had Abdullah who had Mohammed, the last Messenger and Prophet of God.

IBRAHIM AND ISMAIL IN DESERT OF ARABIA

Prophet Ibrahim had brought his eldest son Ismail with his mother Hajra (Hagar) from Kenan to the barren valley of Mecca. He used to visit them once a year. When Isma’il was old enough to help him, Prophet Ibrahim built the House of Allah known as the Kaba.

There was no water in the land when Ismail and Hajra were left there. The well of Zamzam miraculously appeared for Ismail. Read how this miraculous event is portrayed in the Bible:

“And God heard the voice of the lad [Ishmael]; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven and said to her: What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not, for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise and lift up the lad and hold him in thy hand, for I will make him a great nation. And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water.” Genesis, 21:17-20

In Arabia, the Ishmaelites increased in number, thus fulfilling God’s promise to Ibrahim to multiply Ishmael exceedingly.

From Ishmael’s lineage rose a man called Qussay in the fifth century of the Christian era. He gathered all the children of Isma’il from far and wide and made them leave the nomadic way of life, settling them around the Kaba, for this he was called Quraish (the gatherer).’ Nobody else was given this name before him.

Qusayy also estabished Dar al-Nadwa (the Assembly) where all the important matters were discussed and settled. Decision to make war or peace were made in this House. Caravans assembled there before going out, and marriages and other ceremonies were conducted. Qusayy made arrangements to supply water to the pilgrims during hajj and he set system to feed the pilgrims during those days. These customs are known as siqaya and rifada, and they were followed by muslims. He also lighted fires to at the valley of al-Masharul al-Haram to make comfortable the stay of pilgrims. Qusayy rebuilt the Kaba and dug the first well at Mecca.

Inside Kaba, at this time, there were all sorts of pagan idols and icons, painting and objects. There were pictures of the prophets and pictures of trees. Among them there was a picture of Ibrahim as of an elderly man, drawing lots with arrow lots, a picture of Jesus, and a picture of his mother Mary with angels.

The sacred waters of Zamzam, which God had granted to Ishmael and his mother Hajra was filled up long ago. Nobody knew of its location. Qusayy found it and dug it up. He was generous and brave man.

His beliefs were true and his attitude noble. People followed his words even after his death; and they visited his grave at Hajun (Cemetary called Garden of Moala).

# Existence of Light before the World

Muslim books tell us that when God intended to create the living beings, He first created the Noor (Light) of Mohammed. When Allah created, first of all, the Light of Mohammed, He said to it: “You are My chosen one and the Trustee of My Light and Guidance. It is because of you that I am going to create the earth and the skies, lay down reward and punishment, and bring into being the Garden and the Fire.’
Then the text goes on to speak about the family of the Prophet, about the creation of angels, the souls, the cosmos, the covenant taken from the souls which combined the belief in the One God with acceptance of Mohammed’s Prophethood. It is reported that Prophet said: “I was Prophet when Adam was between soul and body (between water and clay)”
Mohammed’s Light adorned the Arsh (Throne) of God. Aeons later, Adam was created. That Light was then placed in his forehead. It continued its journey, generation after generation, through numerous prophets and their successors till it came to Prophet Ibrahim. From Ibrahim (Abraham), it came to his eldest son, Prophet Ismail (Ishmael).
The Prophet said: “Verily Allah chose Ismail from the progeny of Ibrahim, and chose Banu Kinanah from the progeny of Ismail, and chose Quraish from Banu Kinanah, and chose Banu Hashim from Quraish, and chose me from Banu Hashim.”
Prophet says: “Gabriel said to me: ‘I looked at the earth from the east to the west, but I did not find anyone superior to Mohammed, and I looked at the Earth from the east to the west but did not find any progeny superior to the progeny of Hashim’.”

HOW PROPHET CAME INTO THIS WORLD

It is the accepted belief of all muslims that Prophet his forefathers up to Adam were all true believers in one God. They all submitted to God and followed the divine religion.

Al-Suyuti wrote that all ancestors of the Prophet were believers. His ancestors from Adam up to Abdullah were pure and clean from the uncleanness of disbelief and paganism. It was not possible for Allah to put that Holy Light into dark and dirty places, i.e. the loin of a pagan man or the womb of a pagan woman.

The Prophet said,

“I was always being transferred from the loins of the clean ones to the wombs of the clean ones.”

The father, mother and all ancestors of the Prophet followed the true religion, and his Light never entered into the loin of any pagan man or the womb of any pagan woman. All his ancestors were “Siddiqun’ (truthful ones): They were either prophets or rightful successors (wasis). After Ismaiil, all his ancestors were successors of Ismail. Traditions specify that Abdul-Muttalib was a “Hujjat’ (Proof) of God and that Abu Talib was his successor.

In fact, many customs initiated by forefathers of the holy Prophet are now included into the tenets of Islam. For example, Qusayy started the night-stay at al-Mashar al-Haram during the Hajj, and God kept that system in Islam. God would never approve a ritual established by a pagan. Traditions set by Abdul-Muttalib were also adopted in Islam. He never prayed to the idols of Meccans. When he discovered the waters of Zamzam, he shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ God is Great. He used to swear by the name of Allah and not by name of any idol. Whenever he staked his claim, he says that Allah gave it to him. When the Elephant army was to coming to destroy the Kaba, he said God would surely save His House. He could only have been certain if God had informed him of this.

DESCENDENTS OF MOHAMMED

Lineage of Prophet Mohammed continues to this day. Prophet had one daughter Fatima whom he married to his cousin and successor Ali. The first descendents of Mohammed are respect as holy and divinely chosen leaders of humanity. Muslims devotion includes salutations of peace upon the holy lineage of God’s messenger. In prayers the believers read “God blessings is upon Mohammed and his children as blessings were on Ibrahim and his children.”

# 2. DIVINE MISSION

This we have proven that Mohammed was the Highest Prophet of God. Mohammed is the Greatest Messenger sent by God to mankind. He was chosen and sent by God to guide humanity and deliver to them God book the Koran. We have also shown that Mohammed’s coming was predicted by the ancients in their writings; and also in the holy books sent by God to those nations.

Mohammed was forty years old when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to him. They were the first verses of Surat al-Alaq (chapter 96), and they were revealed during the month of Ramadan while he was sitting in deep meditation in the cave of Hira on mountain called Thur.

Prophet was greatly impressed by the sight of archangel Gabriel when he arrived to tell him that God wished him to initiate his mission.

“In the Name of Allah, the Kind the Merciful. Read in the Name of your Lord who created (everything); created man of a sticky thing. Read, for your Lord is the bountiful who taught by the pen, who taught man what he knew not.” (The Holy Quran, 96:1-5)

FIRST CONVERTS

Abu Bakr his friend was the first convert of Mohammed, according to many books. He accepted Mohammed’s mission on the first day. Some historians say Mohammed’s wife Khadija was the first person to accept his call and pledge support to him. Others say it was Ali who converted before anyone else. But, if you look carefully at the evidence, then it seems that the first person to accept Mohammed as the holy messenger of God was Bahera. It is said that this Christian lover of Jesus saw Mohammed in a caravan on the road to Damascus. And at first sight of a special 14 years old boy, Bahera said that Mohammed is the messenger of God. Second to believe in Mohammed as messenger of God was Abu Talib after the testimony of the Christian mystic. After them, confessed Fatima Bint Asad, who accepted her nephew as Prophet of God. She protected Mohammed as a treasure from God. Prophet used to consider his aunt as his own mother. But naturally, Mohammed’s parents, Abdullah and Amina, would have been first to know that their child was holy and chosen by God. Also, no doubt that Abdullah would have told Abdol Muttalib the grandfather of the Prophet that his new grandson was a mighty messenger of God.

The mission was truly big. Prophet therefore at first preached secretly and only to his trusts loyal men. The purpose was to lay the solid foundation for the task ahead. Prophet proceeded to build a secure base. Prophet wanted a loyal body of men who will support God through the good and bad time to come.

Prophet’s cousin Ali who was only 10 years of age vowed never to abandon him. Ali’s father Abu Talib kept his conversion secret in order to assist his nephew Mohammed. Keeping hidden your true faith for a greater purpose is known as Takia, and the Prophet allowed this after God permitted it.

GATHERING OF THE FAMILY

Three years passed in building the foundations of Islam. Then came order from God to Mohammed that he must now inform all the relatives and give them a clear choice between truth and falsehood.

God said,

“Warn your near relations.” (26:214)

With this divine command ended secret preaching by Mohammed. From now on Truth was in the open.

Obeying God’s order, Prophet asked Ali to make preparations. Ali made food and invited the family clan.

At the dinner Prophet told them the truth one true God and he offered them eternal life in Paradise if they accepted him as God’s chosen messenger. But his kinsmen turned him down and mocked his mission.

Prophet said to his clansmen, I have brought you the best blessings of this world and of the next, and I am appointed by the Lord to call you unto Him. Who among you will help me in this cause, and whoever does so will be my brother, my deputy and successor. Nobody responded except Ali. Although he was youngest one present in the room, he said, O Messenger of God, I am here to help you in this task’ The Prophet patted Ali on his back and said, O my people! This is my brother, my deputy and my successor. Listen to him and obey him. The men burst laughing, and said to Abu Talib, listen, you are should obey your son.

Some of these men later turned bitterest enemies of the Prophet. This incident also shows that at this early stage of mission the Prophet appointed Ali his executor and caliph.

GOD OF MOHAMMAD

Prophet Mohammed believed in the same God that Prophet Ibrahim believed in. Both Prophets worshipped the true God, Creators of the heavens and the earth. God loved them and chose them. God sent them to tell the people about Himself. They taught humanity not to bow before false idols and false gods.

Greatest secret treasure anyone can possess is the knowledge of the true God the Creator of the Universe. Thinkers throughout human history have tried to seek answer to important questions about nature of God. Who is God? What is He? Where is He? What is His relation us?

It is obviously clear that the only people who could provide true information about God would be those who themselves are elect of God. None besides the chosen men of God could give answers to questions about the nature of God. These men are referred to as prophets of God, of messengers of God. God sends them as holy men. They teach mankind the reality about their Creator.

Over the centuries God sent hundreds and thousands of prophets to guide humanity. But people of greed and followed their own desires and changed the holy teachings of God’s messengers and corrupted their message. We read in Bible that Hebrew people opposed prophets and tried to hide and alter divine message.

Prophet Mohammed was chosen by God to teach people the truth about God. He was sent to purify their souls against sin and evil. People had left the ways of Abraham, Moses, Gotem Budh, Jesus and other noble messengers of God. They had again fallen into Satan’s trap and began to worship idols and false gods.

God sent his greatest messenger to mankind. God revealed His own book to his Prophet and to him and commanded to present to people their true Creator.

Truth about God, His name and attribute, was hidden in centuries. Mohammed was now teaching the people what previous prophets like Moses had taught. Allah was out again.

What were the teachings of Mohammed about the Almighty Creator of the Universe?

# CORE TEACHING OF THE PROPHET

Tawheed meaning the Unity of God.

Prophet Mohammed gave the clearest teaching about God: Your Creator is one. He is not a Trinity as some Christians believed. He is not many gods as Hindus believe. He does not come up and down. He sends his messengers to deliver his will to mankind.

Mohammed, Messenger of God was asked about God:

A Bedouin once came to Prophet and said, “Teach me of the most unusual of knowledge!” He asked him, “What have you done with the peak of knowledge so that you now ask about its most unusual things?!” The man asked him, “What is this peak of knowledge?!” He said, “It is knowing God as He deserves to be known.” The Bedouin then said, “And how can He be known as He ought to be?” He replied, “It is that you know Him as having no model, no peer, no antithesis, and that He is One and only: He is the One Who is Apparent yet Hidden, the First and the Last, having no peer nor a similitude; this is the true knowledge about Him.”

GOD IS REVEALED TO THE WORLD

With start of Prophet’s mission, the truth about the Creator was now out. Allah was hidden no more.
Allah had taken it upon Himself to make sure any seeker of truth had access to knowledge about His Being.

For that purpose Allah revealed His own Holy Book, the Quran. He also chose its official interpreter, the Prophet himself, who not only delivered the Quran to the world, he also explained its meanings and made people understood what their Lord was saying.

Here was the holy book of God, the Koran; in it the full glory and truth of God was revealed.

Below are some verses of Koran in which God teaches mankind about Himself.

GOD UNVEILS HIMSELF IN QURAN

Allah reveals eternal truths about Himself in His Book the Holy Quran:

“He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Absolute. He does not have children. He does not have parents. There is none is like Him” (112:1-4). “Vision does not comprehend Him, while He comprehends all vision, and He knows all the subtleties, (He is) the Aware One.” (6:103) “Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful” (15:49) “Nothing at all is comparable to Him” (42:11). “The Praised One has said, He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent, and He has full knowledge of all things.” (57:3) “Everything is to perish except He.” (28:88) “Everyone on earth will perish but will abide (forever) the Face of your Lord, full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour” (55:26-27) “Blessed is He in whose hands is the dominion” (67:1) “Say: O Allah! Master of authority! You give authority to whomsoever You please and take it away from whomsoever You please” (3:26). “Whose will be the dominion that Day? It is Allah’s, the One, the Subduer (of all)” (40:16) “He has said, [He is] the One Who knows the unseen and the seen.” (6:73) “And with Him are the keys of the unseen treasures: none knows them except He.” (6:59) “Slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep.” (2:255) “And your Lord is not forgetful.” (19:64) “And you are not (engaged) in any affair, nor do you recite concerning it any portion of the Quran, nor do you do anything, except that We are witnesses over you when you enter into it.” (10:61) “Were every tree on earth (made into) pens and the sea (to supply it with ink), with seven more seas to add thereto, the words of Allah would not have been exhausted; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.” (31:27) “Say: Were the sea (turned into) ink for the (recording of the) words of my Lord, the sea would surely be consumed before the words of my Lord are exhausted though We were to bring the like of that (sea) to add thereto.” (18:109) “Allah’s is the command before (now) and thereafter.” (30:4) “The day on which no soul shall control anything for (another) soul, and the command on that Day shall be entirely Allah’s.” (82:19)
(He is) the Originator of the heavens and the earth; He made mates for you from among yourselves, and mates of (and for) the cattle, too, multiplying you (humans and animals) thereby; nothing is like Him; and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (42:11) Say: He, Allah, is One. Allah is He on Whom all (beings and things) depend. He does not beget, nor is He begotten. And none is like Him. (112:1-4) He is Allah, the One, the Subduer (of all). (39:4) Say: Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth? Say: Allah. Say: Do you then take besides Him guardians who do not control any benefit or harm for themselves? Say: Are the blind and the seeing alike? Or can the darkness and the light be equal? Or have they set up with Allah associates who have created creation like His, so what is created became confused to them? Say: Allah is the Creator of all, and He is the One, the Supreme. (13:16)

God is the only Creator

Allah is the Creator of everything and He has authority over everything. His are the treasures of the heavens and the earth; as for those who disbelieve in the communications of Allah, they surely are the losers. (39:62-63) Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of everything; there is no God but He; whence are you then turned away? (40:62) Such is Allah, your Lord; there is no god but He, the Creator of all things; so, worship Him (and Him alone), and He has charge of all things. (6:102) He is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner; His are the most beautiful names; whatever in the heavens and in the earth declares His glory, and He is the Mighty, the Wise. (59:24) (Allah is the) Wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth! How could He have a son when He has no consort, and He (Himself) created everything? And He knows all things. (6:101) O men! Call to mind the favour of Allah on you; is there any creator besides Allah who gives you sustenance from the heavens and the earth? There is no god but He; whence are you then turned away? (35:3) Surely your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods of time, and He is firm in power; He throws the veil of night over the day, which it incessantly pursues, and (He created) the sun and the moon and the stars (and) made them subservient (to you, serving you) by His command; surely His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, the Lord of the worlds. (7:54)

Such is the concept of God that Prophet Mohammed taught mankind. God chose Prophet Mohammed and told him to teach humanity the correct truth about their Creator, the truth that had been perverted by men who were hypocritical and greedy for worldly power. Mohammed was commissioned from on High to bring people back to the true God. A pure book was given to Mohammed; a book that was to changes history of the world forever.

# SCIENTIFIC AND MORAL TEACHINGS IN QURAN

Prophet's moral and ethical teachings are the most sublime in the world. To this day they remain matchless.

Besides ethical values and morals, Prophet of God also taught Arabs scientific truths. However, most facts about science were incomprehensible to Arabs of that time. God revealed in His holy book Quran things that were still being discovered by men in 20th and 21st centuries. French scientist Maurice Bucaille examined these verses and wrote a book about it. He was greatly impressed how advance the Quran is. He said Quran gives scientific facts far head of its time. Nothing in Physics Chemistry, Biolology and other areas of scientific research had able to contradict verses of the Holy Quran.

# GREATEST BOOK IN THE WORLD

Famous German poet Goethe said that men of intellect would always find the Quran miraculous, even when after they reject it a first: "It soon attracts, astounds, and in the end enforces our reverence... Its style, in accordance with its contents and aim is stern, grand, terrible - ever and anon truly sublime. Thus this book will go on exercising through all ages a most potent influence."

French doctor Maurice Bucaille said: "The above observation makes the hypothesis advanced by those who see Mohammed as the author of the Quran untenable. How could a man, from being illiterate, become the most important author, in terms of literary merits, in the whole of Arabic literature? How could he then pronounce truths of a scientific nature that no other human being could possibly have developed at that time, and all this without once making the slightest error in his pronouncement on the subject? A totally objective examination of it in the light of modern knowledge, leads us to recognize the agreement between the two, as has been already noted on repeated occasions. It makes us deem it quite unthinkable for a man of Mohammed's time to have been the author of such statements on account of the state of knowledge in his day. Such considerations are part of what gives the Quranic Revelation its unique place, and forces the impartial scientist to admit his inability to provide an explanation which calls solely upon materialistic reasoning."

Arthur J. Arberry said: "In making the present attempt to improve on the performance of my predecessors, and to produce something which might be accepted as echoing however faintly the sublime rhetoric of the Arabic Koran, I have been at pains to study the intricate and richly varied rhythms which - apart from the message itself - constitute the Koran's undeniable claim to rank amongst the greatest literary masterpieces of mankind... This very characteristic feature - 'that inimitable symphony,' as the believing Pickthall described his Holy Book, 'the very sounds of which move men to tears and ecstasy' - has been almost totally ignored by previous translators; it is therefore not surprising that what they have wrought sounds dull and flat indeed in comparison with the splendidly decorated original."

Quran itself is a miracle of a book that presents the true Lord of the Worlds. To fully understand power and value of Quran, it is necessary to know the life of him to whom God revealed His holy book.

God is known through His Creations. The best of His creation is Mohammed, the Prophet and Messenger of God, peace be upon him and his family. Prophet is the one loved most by God. Therefore to love the messenger of God is to love God. To love God is to love Prophet Mohammed. Allah loves whoever loves Mohammed, and whomever Allah loves will have complete peace and happiness.

People who truly loved God and His Holy Prophet Mohammed were his wife, his daughter, his uncle, his aunt, his wife, his cousin, was only 10 years of age at the start of the mission to spread the truth about God to the world.

# KHADIJA AND ABU TALIB

Prophet beloved wife and his honourable uncle.

Prophet was now preaching openly in Mecca. Meccan leaders were alarmed. They could no longer ignore him as wishful preacher. Prophet was gaining strength by the day. With approval of his kinsmen, Abu Sufyan and other pagans began to oppose Mohammed. They tried everything to prevent Prophet’s message from being accepted by the people. At first they mocked the Prophet. They accused Mohammed of being possessed. Then they started harassing his followers. Early converts who were poor and weak were abused and oppressed. Some were persecuted and tortured.

However, the pagans of Mecca could hurt the Prophet himself. His powerful uncle Abu Talib protected him. Meccans could not understand that how could he protect his nephew who mocked the god’s he revered. Pagans did not know that Abu Talib was the secret believer of Allah.

THE THREE YEAR BOYCOTT

When pagans of Mecca could not physically hurt the Prophet, they decided to cut off all links with him and his family and supporters. The powerful leaders of Mecca announced a general order prohibiting people from buying or selling things to Mohammed and his supporters. Pagans wanted Prophet to give up. They also wanted the converts to leave him. For three years the suffering of Prophet and his followers was terrible. But these were believers in only one God. They had given up everything for the pleasure of their Lord. They remained firm in obedience of the Prophet.

Abu Talib’s protection and Khadija wealth provided vital lifeline to the Prophet during early years when Abu Sufyan had placed sanctions on him and ordered a complete boycott against him. It was divine providence that Prophet had been married to Khadija. She proved saviour of Islam. Khadija nurtured the truth as mother nurtures her child in the dark night. Muslims honour Khadija as Mother of the Believers. When God ordered that truth be let out, there were three people who sacrificed everything to save Islam: Abu Talib, Khadija, and Fatima Bint Asad. The divine truth they saved was the light of Fatima, and her husband Ali.

Abu Talib had immense love and belief in Prophet of God. He wrote poetry in praise and honour of the Holy Prophet.

Here are some of words of Abu Talib:

“And you have called me and I know that you are truthful, and, in fact, you were truthful and trustworthy from the beginning. And I certainly know that the religion of Mohammed is the best of all the religions of the world… Did you not know that we have found Mohammed the Messenger of Allah the same as was Musa (Moses)? It is so written in the scriptures.”

“And the Lord of the world has strengthened him with His help, so he proclaimed the religion which is true, not false. Do not they know that our son is not doubted by us and that we do not care about the false sayings (of his foes)?”

“You have called me (to Islam) and I believe that you are truthful, straightforward and trustworthy. And there is no doubt in my belief that the religion of Mohammed is the best of all the religions of the world. By God! As long as I am alive, not a single person from among Quraish can harm you.”

When his brother Hamza (known as Abu Yali) converted, Abu Talib said:

“Be patient, O Abu Yali, on account of the religion of Ahmad. And proclaim the religion with courage, may Allah help you. I was glad when you said that you were a mu'min (believer). So help the Messenger of Allah in the cause of Allah. And announce to Quraish your decision, and tell them that Ahmad was never a sorcerer.”

Also,

“Prophet Mustafa is extremely beautiful has an enlighten face. Because of you it rains and you are the one who reaches to the places of orphans and are a supporter for widows.”

“You are so prominent and preferred that Allah, the Almighty, has derived your blessed name from His own name. He is praised in the heavens, whereas you are the praiseworthy one on this earth.”

“There is none for the remembrance of Allah and circumbulation of Kaaba except Bani Hashim and they were in all circumstances benefiting from this greatness. By Allah! We will neither abandon Mohammed nor will we hand him over to anybody. We will not leave our children and women and spears have not clashed and nor have arrows rained down and we are not covered in dust.”

“O Mohammed! Looking at your luminous face, raindrops fall. Your merciful existence is a refuge for the helpless orphan and a protection for the modesty and chastity of widows.”

“O Mohammed! You invited me towards Islam and I came to know that you are honest in your claim and whatever you said was the truth and I was the trust for that and I also came to know that the religion of Mohammed was better than all religious of the world.”

“Verily Allah has honored His Prophet Mohammed
The most honored among Allah’s creatures is Ahmad
Allah has derived a name for Him from His name
So Allah is Mahmood and He is Mohammed”

#3 MIGRATION

ISLAM IN YATHRIB [Medina]

First Pledge of Akaba

In 622 some people from Yathib came and accepted Islam. They gave their oath of alliagnce a mountain pass Akaba. This was the first pledge of Akaba. When they went back to Yathrib, Prophet sent with them his trusted disciples Musab ibn Omayr, and Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum in order to teach them Quran and its meanings.

Taif had rejected Prophet but now there was hope in Yathrib. After a year, more men came from Yathib to convert.

Second Pledge of Akaba

Yathrib tribes of Aws and Khasraj showed interest in messenage of Mohammed. In 623, about sixty men came with Musab ibn Omayr. Over 300 men from Jewish tribes came to convert. This was second pledge of Akaba. They invited Prophet to their city and swore to obey him.

Prophet accepted their invitation and ordered his men to leave Mecca and begin secret migration to Yathrib. Over 40 people who had converted so far in Mecca took whatever they could carry and left for Yathrib.

“Whoever obeys the Prophet, obeys God.”

This event marks the start of new muslim Hijri (migration) calendar. The twelve months of the moon are about eleven days shorter tan twelve months of the sun. Hijra is one of the most important events in Islamic history. This was when Meccans had decided to kill the Prophet of Allah.

HIJRAT

Assassination Plan

Pagan leaders were alarmed at how fast Prophet had influence over the tribes of Yathirb. They feared that if Prophet leaves Mecca and established himself in Yathib, then soon he would pose a serious threat to their power. Meccan leaders quickly moved from kill the Prophet.

Pagan chiefs gathered to make a plan. They were Abu Jahl, Abu Lahab, Abu Sufyan, and Otbah, The secret meeting was held at Dar al-Nadwa to seal the agreement. It was settled that one man from every clan must attack the Prophet. They knew Prophet would try to leave the city in middle of the might.

Prophet planned to escape before his enemes could attack him. He told Ali the plan of Meccans They wanted him dead tonight. Ali volunteered to sleep on Prophet’s bed. This act was to make easy the escape while the enemies think Prophet is still here sleeping. Prophet asked Ali if he realised how dangerous this night was. Ali said yes but if Prophet can live by Ali’s death then this was acceptable. Prophet wept. He bid Ali farewell. Prophet covered his brother with the green cloak and left the house by stealth. Prophet easily slipped past watchmen. None of the enemies near his house saw him leave.

Prophet had left his home. Ali was lying on his bed. Pagan assassins surrounded the house. They waited till darkness of the night to kill the “messenger of God” sleeping on his bed. It was first day lunar month of Rabi Al Awwal.

God praised Ali and said to Prophet: “Amongst men is one who gives his life to please God. God is most benevolent to His servants.” (2:207)

Instead of heading north to Yathrib, Prophet went south of Mecca to mountain of Thawr where he stayed in the cave for the night. Abu Bakr followed him and joined him in the cave.

Some say that Prophet collected Abu Bakr from his house and both headed out of Mecca. Others say that Abu Bakr was not meant to be in Mecca and, after Prophet left Mecca, Abu Bakr came and asked Ali where was the Prophet. Ali told him that Prophet had already long gone. Abu Bakr went out that night looking for the Prophet, and eventually caught up with him and called out his name. Both men then reached the Thawr mountain together, and Abu Bakr helped carry the Prophet to the cave.

After midnight towards dawn, Meccans smashed the door and broke into Prophet’s home. They were surprised to see Ali there. They had no quarrels with Ali. So they let him go. They realised Prophet has escaped their plans. They vowed to finish him in Yathrib.

These men who broke into Prophet house were Abu Jahl, Hakam ibn Abul As, Okba ibn Mueet, Nadir ibn Harith, Omeya ibn Khalaf, Ibn Ghaytalah, Zama ibn Aswad, Tumah ibn Adiy, Abu Lahab, Ubayy ibn Khalaf, and both Nabeeh and Munbih sons of al-Hajjaj.

Meccans knew Prophet couldn’t have reached far. They hired Suraqah ibn Malik, a tracker, to search for the Prophet. It is said that Suraqah’s party soon was able to reach the cave where footprints of Abu Bakr led him. Some say it was footprints of Prophet that gave him away, and helped Suraqah track him down. Abu Bakr was shaking out of fear. He cried because he thought the enemies would find them and kill them. Prophet reassured Abu Bakr that God would not let enemies harm them on this migration. They would be safe today. Prophet then read to him verse of Quran: “Grieve not; for surely God is with us.” (9:40)

It is said that a spider wove his web at the entrance of the cave; and pigeons built their nest there.

It is said Prophet stayed on mount Thawr for four days. Prophet then decided to leave the cave and head for Yathrib. Abu Bakr gave his camel to the Prophet for the journey. It was worth 200. Prophet paid Abu Bakr 900 for his camel. Prophet hired Abdullah ibn Orayqit al-Daylami to walk ahead.

Prophet has escaped Mecca. Pagans were upset. Abu Jahl put high price on Prophet’s head. Notice was served throughout Mecca:

100 camels for Mohammed - Dead or Alive.
100 camels for Abu Bakr - Dead or Alive.

Prophet marched for a week and reached a place called Kuba. The date was 12 Rabi al Awwal.

At Kuba, Mohammed [in the name of Ali] built the first masjid in Islam. The world famous Kuba Majid is visited today by millions of pilgrims to this day. Prophet waited in Masjid Kuba until Ali reached him. Ali in Mecca was busy returning the properties to their rightful owners. Prophet was the most a trustworty man in Mecca. Pagans used to keep their valuables in his house. They knew their property is safe with Mohammed. Ali responsibly carried out Prophet’s duties in Mecca before leaving the city. After he returned all things to pagans, Ali set out towards the Prophet. He travelled in the hot desert sun and eventually managed to reach Kuba. Prophet was crying with happiness. He welcomed Ali with open arms and kissed his head. Then Prophet led the prayer in Kuba Masjid. God called it "the Mosque founded on piety."

Prophet left Kuba and headed for Yathrib, a city that had invited him. Prophet, Ali and Abu Bakr entered the City on Friday 16 Rabi al Awwal [1 October 622]. Some of Prophet’s supporters had come out to welcome him. The name of the Yathrib was changed to Medina, City of the Prophet. This infuriated the Meccans more. Entry into Medina was a tumultuous welcome as the new base of Islam. However, God praised all who had obeyed the Prophet and who had welcomed him in Medina: “Surely those who believed and migrated and strived hard in the way of God with their property and souls, and those who sheltered and helped them, these are indeed guardians of one another.” (8:72)

#4. ISLAMIC STATE

In Medina, God’s holy messenger immediately set up the Divine Order, the first Islamic State on earth. He did it with democratically with full agreement of all the tribes of the region. Even pagans were included as full citizens of the new state. Jews, Christians were given equal rights as Muslims. Prophet made sure security of everyone was penned in a charter of rights.

CONSTITUTION OF MEDINA

Jews were suspicious of Mohammed and his new religion. However, they too signed the treaty of rights which Prophet presented before all the leaders of the clans.

On arrival in Medina, Prophet decided to offer a peace treaty to Jews of Medina so that they can maintain their own religion and customs.

“All individuals of whatever origin shall constitute one community. The state of peace and war shall be common to all Muslims; none among them shall have the right of concluding peace with, or declaring war against, the enemies of his co-religionists. The Jews who enter into this covenant shall be protected from all insults and vexations; they shall have an equal right with our own people to our assistance and good offices. The Jews of the various branches… and all others residents of Medina shall form with the Muslims one composite nation. They shall practice their religion as freely as the Muslims. The clients and allies of the Jews shall enjoy the same security and freedom. The guilty shall be pursued and punished. The Jews shall join the Muslims in defending Medina against all enemies. The interior of Medina shall be a sacred place for all those who accept this charter. The clients and allies of the Muslims and of the Jews shall be as respected as the principals. All Muslims shall stand against anyone found guilty of a crime, injustice, or disorder. None shall uphold the culpable, even if he may be his nearest in kinship. All disputes shall be referred to God and His Prophet.”

The Jews of Medina accepted this treaty. After some time, the neighbouring Jewish tribes of Banu Nadir and Banu Quraizah signed it, too.

Yasrab Medina Charter of Rights shows that Prophet Mohammed granted human rights to everyone. Even today, in 21st century Europe has not given freedoms to people that Prophet gave in 7th century. United Nation had admitted that teachings of Prophet and his successor Ali could save the world. He set down basic morals of governance and human rights that are unmatched to this day. UN claims Ali's words are far higher than words of UN Charter of Rights. Historically, this is first constitution in the world. Prophet granted human rights to his subjects two thousand years ahead of his time.

#5 DEFENCE

Enemies of God were not to sit down and remain silent. They decided to attack Prophet and destroy his new state. God revealed to His Prophet to get his men ready for Holy War to defend freedom and truth.

Battle of Bader

Meccans saw Prophet’s power and influence spreading in Medina. They were angry. Prophet knew that Meccans would not rest till they try their best to finish him and his religion. Prophet was a mercy to the world. He gave every opportunity to his enemies to live in peace. However, Mecca decided to attack Medina.

Meccan leaders had long begun grand-scale preparations to attack Medina. Prophet decided to stop them before they could reach the city. He met them at Badr which is 80 miles from Medina. [Pagans came with a large force.] The Prophet as guided by God, decided to march out boldly against the well-armed and well-equipped pagan army coming from Mecca. Prophet consulted his supporters. They promised to fight the Meccans as their own enemies. Tribes of Aws and Khasraj many contributed men to defend the Prophet.

At Bader total of 313 men faced 1000 pagans from Mecca. Ali was Prophet’s standard-bearer. The date was 17 Ramadan.

Pagan warriors challenged their opponents to individual duels. Three pagans Otbah, Walid, and Shaybah walked forward and called out to prophet to send his men out.

These pagans all belonged to Ommeya clan of Mecca. Otbah was father of Hind who was married to Abu Sufyan. Shaybah was brother of Otbah. Walid was son of Otbah.

These three pagans wanted to teach a lesson to Meccan renegades.

Prophet sent Ali forward. He also sent Obaydah. He also chose Hamza to take part in the duel with pagans. These all belonged to Prophet’s own Hashmi clan. They were his uncles and two cousins.

It was a fierce fight. Dust was raised and surrounded the 6 men in the hot desert.

Obaydah was severely wounded. He needed help fast. [Ali killed Walid. Hamza killed Shaybah.] They both picked up their kinsman Obaydah. Ali then took on Otbah and finished him off too.

[Prophet sat under a shade directing the battle as Divine General. Abu Bakr also sat with him watching the battle.]

Eventually Meccans decided to charge. It was a pitched battle. Muslims managed to slay many of the Meccans. Pagans began losing important leaders, most of them with at the hands of Ali. It was his first war. Omeyya and Abu Jahl were also killed.

Abu Sufyan feared annihilation. Pagans began to flee. They even dropped their armour and animal, camping equipment and other valuables.

Prophet and his men had won and pagans of Mecca were defeated at historic Battle of Bader.

Instead of leaving the pagan dead for vultures to eat, Prophet ordered them buried. Muslims dug up a deep pit and all corpses were laid in.

This was the way of Islam brought and taught by Mohammed.

It is said God sent Angels from Heaven to help the muslims who were outnumbered by their enemies fro Mecca. God gave good news to believers on the day of Bader.

“When you sought help from your Lord, He answered you: I will assist you with a thousand angels following one another.” (8:9)

Battle of Ohad

[Meccans caravans passed Medina. Prophet decided to finish their supplies and cut their routes. He ordered attack on the pagan caravans.]

Mecca had been humiliated at battle of Bader. They began to plan revenge.

Abu Sufyan’s wife Hind was the angriest person in Mecca. In Battle of Bader, her brother Walid and her father Otbah were slain. Hind had an Ethiopian slave called Wahshi. She said to him that she would set him free if he could kill either Mohammed or Ali or Hamza.

Abu Sufyan swore vengeance. He vowed not to touch his wives till Badr scare was settled. He managed to gathered other tribes and raise an army of 3000 soldiers. Command was given to two generals Ikrima and Khalid bin Waleed. Women provide moral support. Abu Sufyan’s own wife Hind led the war songs and brought her own 15 servants to chat and beat the drums.

The army’s right wing was under the command of Khalid ibn al-Walid and the left under that of ‘Ikrimah son of the ill-famed Abu Jahl.

Prophet marched out with only 700 men headed by Ali. Prophet turned down 300 men to join his force. They were not muslims. Unless they accepted Islam, Prophet would not enlist their help.

The date was 7 Shawwal. Prophet reached mountain of Ohad before the Meccans. He ordered Ibn Jubair to climb the hill and take strategic position there. Ibn Jubair took 50 men and they guarded the mountain pass from a high point. Archers defended the Prophet and his army from Mountain of Ohad.

Meccans arrives and their standard bearer Talhah came forward with his men and challenged Mohammed to send his men for the duels. Mohammed sent Ali and Hamza to face them.

Ali fought Talhah and in a fast strike cut off his leg. Talhah was dead. His brother Uthman took his place and he was killed by Hamza. A third pagan came forward and Ali slew him. Ali and Hamza killed nine Meccans before start of general hostilities. Then the pagans began the charge. It was an intense battle. Wahshi was lurking near the rocks. He could not find Mohammed nor Ali. But he located Hamza. Hamza was fighting the pagans of Mecca. Washsi waited. When Hamza began to combat Saba, the slave of Hind threw his spear. It struck Hamza and he died instantly. Some muslims saw this and began to panic. But Ali managed to secure the situation.

Ali decided to launch the attack on Meccan army. He ordered Abu Dajana to lead the charge. Ali told Musab to also hit the centre of the pagan army. He ordered Sahl bin Hunaif to break the centre of the Meccan formations.

The Meccans were now panicking. Some left their camps. Muslims saw the Meccans turning their backs. They thought battle was over and began looting the booty. Archers standing on the mountain also rushed down to help themselves with the spoils of war. They were stationed at high position on the Ohad to defend the muslim soldiers from behind.

When Khalid bin Waleed saw the Muslims army was now unprotected from the rear. He launched a sudden attack from behind the muslim army. The situation was reversed again. Muslims panicked when they saw Meccan were not running but attacking from the rear. There was no escape. Many muslim soldiers were killed. Many others severely wounded.

“MUHAMMD IS DEAD”

Muslims flee Battlefield

It was a furious attack by Khalid bin Waleed. Prophet fell into a hole. Some thought Mohammed had been killed. Muslim soldiers lost heart and will to fight. Some muslims said its best to negotiate surrender with Abu Sufyan. They thought if they apologize then he would let them go and give them amnesty. Omar threw his sword down and refused to fight any more. He said since Prophet is dead what’s the point of continuing the war with pagans of Mecca. Talha said there is no use fighting as Prophet was no more. Abu Bakr also fled. Abu Obaida too ran from the battle field. Uthman ran past Medina so far that it took him three days to return.

Only a few muslim soldiers remained on the battlefield. They said they would continue to fight even if Prophet is dead. They would stay loyal to his memory. In the thick of battle these Companions Mohammed fought till the last.

Prophet had fallen into a pit. Ali found the Prophet and protected him against the furious onslaughts of the Meccans. Ali fought like a true warrior, brave, fearless and loyal. Eventually Ali’s sword broke. Prophet gave him his own sword. This was the famous Dhulfiqar Sword. With Prophet sword in his hands, Ali struck Meccans like lightning. Without resting, Ali and his few brave men attacked Meccan soldiers. They managed to break pagans spirits.

Then Ali pulled up the Prophet from the hole he had fallen. Some muslims who had ran away began to return to the battle field. But the war was over. Prophet had been saved and his enemies had ended the combat.

Muslims, despite having an upper hand, their disobedience to Prophet and greed to the loot had turned the battle into a loss. And for Meccan, despite having almost won, they decided to end the combat and go home. Prophet had again witnessed the sacrificing spirit of Ali. He asked him why he too did not run away like the others and save his life. Ali replied: “Should I become an infidel after having accepted Islam?”

Meccans decided this was enough. They stopped fighting. Some say the Ohad battle was a draw. Nobody had won. No body had lost.

Meccans were effectively beaten. They stopped fighting. But before they left Hind wanted to mutilate the dead bodied of Muslims martyrs. The brave Hamzah was amongst the slain. His heart was torn out by Hind, wife of Abu Sufyan. She also cut off his ears and nose. She took his liver and chewed it with her teeth and then threw it away.

Angels Gabriel came down from heavens and said to the Prophet that it was the height of loyalty and bravery which Ali had demonstrating to you.

The Prophet said:

“Why not? Ali is from me and I am from Ali.”

Gabriel said:

“And I am from you both.”

He flew back a voice from Heaven was heard:

“There is no sword but Dhulfiqar. There is no warrior but Ali.”

The Prophet’s daughter in Medina, Fatima al-Zahra, surrounded by a group of Muslim women, hurried to the battlefield. To her great relief, she found her father alive. His forehead and face were covered with his blood. Ali brought water in his shield and Fatima cleansed and dressed the wounds.

God sent down verses about this battle of Uhud.

“And Mohammed is no more than a Prophet; prophets have already passed away before him; if then he dies or is killed, will you turn back upon your heels? And whoever turns back upon his heel will by no means harm Allah in the least, and Allah will reward the grateful. And a soul will not die except with the permission of Allah; the term is fixed, and whoever desires the reward of this world, I shall give him of it, and whoever desires the reward of the hereafter, I shall give him of it, and I will reward the grateful. And how many a prophet has fought (and) with whom were (present) many worshippers of the Lord? So they did not become weak-hearted on account of what befell them in Allah’s way, nor did they weaken, nor did they abase themselves, and Allah loves those who are patient.” (3:144-146)

For those who laid their lives in the way of Allah, the following glad tiding had been revealed:

And reckon not those who are killed in Allah’s way as dead; nay, they are alive (and) are sustained by their Lord. (3:169)

Battle of Khandak

Meccans swore to finish Mohammed. The deal was done at Kaba. They sent men to other tribes to join and help end the new Prophet and his mission. The three armies all set out to attack Medina. Total of 10,000 fighters led by Abu Sufyan headed to attack Mohammed. It was 1 Shawwal.

Prophet gathered his men and consulted them. Salman al Farsi said his people in Persia used to dig a trench as means of stopping the invaders. Prophet agreed with Salman. He ordered his men to make it happen. A large 100-yard ditch was dug 15 feet wide and 15 feet deep. Prophet himself took the shovel and helped his men in the digging.

Pagan allies arrived and camped outside the city. This coalition against Islam was made up of armies of many tribes. They came to Medina to attack Muslims.

The pagan allies waited for few days until more pagans joined their ranks. Prophet prayed to God to send some help.

Muslims were terrified and were losing the will to fight. Some asked leave to go home and protect their wives:

Surat al-Ahzab describes the siege.

“When they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes turned dull, and the hearts rose up to the throats, you began to think diverse thoughts about Allah. There, the believers were tried, and they wee shaken a tremendous shaking.” (33:10-11)
“And when a party of them said: O people of Yathrib! There is no place for you to stand, and a party of them asked permission of the Prophet saying: Verily our houses are exposed, and they were not exposed; they only described to flee away.” (33:13)

The bulk of the army, however, steadfastly withstood the hardship of the siege, weather and rapidly depleting provisions.

The coalition’s army hurled arrows and stones at the Muslims.

One famous warrior of Mecca Amr Ibn Abd Wud challenged muslims for a duel. Ali stood up and asked Prophet to let him put this dog down for good. Everyone else was too scared to face Amr. No one but Ali dared to take up challenge of Amr. Prophet kissed Ali’s head. Put on his head his turban and gave him his sword Dhulfiqar.

Prophet then sent forth Ali to fight Amr. Prophet said to his men: “Complete faith is to fight complete paganism.” Prophet prayed to God to save Ali so that he can always defend him.

Ali told Amr he had three options: Come to Mohammed. Go back to Mecca or die. Amr was furious at such words being uttered by a young man.

Amr struck Ali and caused a serious wound to his head. Ali tied a cloth tight and continued fighting. It was a fierce fight. Warriors were engulf in dust of the hot dry desert. Both sides could not see them. After a few minutes Prophet saw Ali emerge with head of Amr. Muslims shouted “Allahuakbar”, God is the greatest.

Prophet said to muslims, Ali’s fight with Amr outweighs universal devotion to God.

Ali did not strip his body of armour or clothes as were customs of all Arabs. Amr’s sister saw this and praised Ali. She was grateful that her brother did not die at hands of a low character. She said: “Had his conqueror been someone else other than the one who killed him, I would have mourned Amr for the rest of my life. But his opponent was the unique spotless champion.”

Victory Masjid was built at this place.

Abu Bakr and Omar did not taken part in any fight at Khandak. It is said they asked pardon of Prophet to stay out of it.

With their greatest swordsman slain, the pagan allies lost will to fight. They were running out of supplies. With a storm approaching, Abu Sufyan decided to end the useless siege and return to Mecca. Khalid bin Waleed agreed and led the retreat. The allies had been defeated. God’s Prophet had once again prevailed over the enemies of Islam.

God reminded muslims how He had aided them:

“Remember the bounty of Allah on you when came upon you the allies, so We sent against them a strong wind and hosts that you did not see, and Allah sees all what you do.” (33:9)

“And God turned back the unbelievers in their rage; they did not achieve any advantage, and Allah sufficed for the believers in fighting, and Allah is Strong, Mighty.” (33:25)

Some said God sufficed the believers in Khandak through Ali.

This battle is also known as Battle of Ahzab [Allies].

This was the third and last attempt by Abu Sufyan to attack and destroy Mohammed in Medina. He failed. His influence and power declined. Prophet’s fame grew across Arabia. Many remoter tribes came to accept his message.

#6 VICTORY

Victory in the Battle of Ahzab was final and Prophet was triumphant over his enemies. Now only a few things were left to complete the mission.

The Battle of Khaybar (628 A.D.)

This was a Jewish city. Jews sent some men who managed to steal 20 camels of Prophet and killed their shepherd and took his wife. Prophet decided to punish them and expel them from Arabia. He saw them as a threat to Islam.

In May 628, Prophet took 1400 men and marched towards Khaybar. Muslims army laid siege to Khybar. Prophet promised his men. He allowed his generals to attack and conquer the fort. First the standard was given to Abu Bakr. He did not succeed. Then Omar took the standard. He too returned without victory. One by one they all failed.

After 5 weeks, Prophet said: “Tomorrow I shall give standard to a man, the man who is a warrior, he attacks again and again, he does not flee from a fight, he stands firm, he loves God and God loves him, he loves the Prophet and Prophet loves him, and God has placed victory in his hands.”

Everyone was eager to be given the standard. The next day, Prophet called Ali and gave him the standard.

Ali took the standard and headed to the fort. He planted the flag upon a rock.

A rabbi told Jews that this man would win. He warned his men that they would now be defeated. He had read about him in holy books.

Harith and Marhab were brothers and two famous warriors. Marhab was tallest and strongest of the two. He was fiercest fighter in Arabia. No man equalled him in his might. He was doubly armed. He had two turbans and a helmet on top. He wore heavy armour with two great swords hanging by his sides.
He was also wearing two turbans with a helmet over and above.

Harith came first to face Ali. He was killed in one go. Marhab was mad with rage. He rushed towards Ali. He was on a great horse. Ali had to fight him on foot. Ali escaped his heavy blow. Ali turned and stuck Marhab with his sword Dhulfikar. Ali’s strike was so strong the sword pierced the helmet, and the two turbans, and his face, and reached the neck of Marhab. Some books say Marhab was cut in two on his saddle.

People if Khybar were heartbroken. Seeing their greatest defender killed, they were demoralised. Ali continued the fight. He killed seven more top Generals. It is written in books that there was a heavy iron gate in front of the fort of Khybar. Ali broke the gate to let muslims could enter the fort. He picked up part of the gate and used it as a shield. It is said that the gate was so heavy that eight men could not turn it over. After the fight was over, Ali threw the gate away.

Leaders of Khybar surrendered at the hands of Ali. There was a great celebration in camps of the muslim army.

Attempt to Poison Mohammed

While Prophet was still at Khybar, a Jewish woman Zainab daughter of Harith ibn Salam ibn Mashkam sent him dinner with poison in it. Ali had killed her father. She was the niece of Marhab. Prophet’s disciple Bishr ate it first and died instantly. The woman was executed.

Ali was sent to town of Fadak next to Khybar. Its people gave up without fighting. Because Fadak was captured without any fight, it was property of Prophet himself while Khybar waswon after a fight. It’s spoils were shared among all muslims. Prophet gave Fadak to his daughter Fatima as a gift.

Following the conquest of Khaybar, the Prophet proceeded to besiege the the Valley of Qura and Taima. These too surrendered. This Prophet gained control over all northern Arabia.

Prophet decided to call establish links with foreign rulers. He sent letters of invitation to Islam.

In the six year A.H., the Prophet decided to send messages to the kings beyond Arabia calling them to Islam. The Prophet attached great importance to this initiative. These messengers were going to distant lands with whom there was no agreement or treaty. They did not know the languages of these lands nor anything about the ways and disposition of their rulers. They were to invite these rulers to give up their religion and forsake their power and glory and enter the religion of a people who shortly before were almost their subjects.

Prophet also sent letters and emissaries to the Arab tribes which had entered into Islam in order to invite them to the jihad.

After this Prophet engaged confronted the Romans. Battle of Tabuk was one in which the Prophet led his men against the Byzantines and their Arab clients. The engagement of Tabuk was the last battle which the Prophet undertook. Prophet went to Tabuk with 30,000 muslims. But Romans did not fight, and preferred to withdraw.

The Prophet then returned to Medina. Whenever he returned from a journey, he was received with Hasan and Husayn. He would take them in his arms and go straight to the house of Fatimah, with the Muslims crowding all around him. They would wait for him at the door until he came out, then they would walk with him to his home, when they would disperse.

Declaration of War

During the last days of the pilgrimage of the ninth year of the hijrah the surah which begins: This is a declaration of immunity from Allah and His Apostle... (surah 9) was sent down. The Prophet delivered the sacred writ to Abu Bakr, who set out with it (for Mecca). Gabriel, however, came down and said to the Prophet: "No one can execute your affairs except you or 'Ali." He thus dispatched 'Ali on his own she-camel, called al-`Adba', after Abu Bakr. When he caught up with him, he took the writ from him. Abu Bakr asked: "Has anything been revealed concerning me?" "No," 'Ali answered, "but no one can execute the Apostle of Allah's affairs except he himself, or I."

Ali went on with the sacred text, which he then recited repeatedly and with a loud voice in Mecca on the Day of Sacrifice and the three days following. He was enjoined to abrogate the covenant of the idolaters and he was (also) to announce that no naked person should henceforth circle the kaba, and that no idolater should henceforth be allowed to enter the Sacred Mosque; and that any covenant made with the Prophet, should be allowed to run its stated term; but anyone who had no such covenant would be given respite for four months. If after four months we capture him, we shall slay him. This is the meaning of Allah's saying: But when the (four) sacred months have elapsed. . ., until His saying: lie in wait for them in every place of ambush. [Quran, chapter 9].

It is reported that when Ali entered Mecca, he unsheathed his sword and, welding it, exclaimed: "By Allah, no naked man shall circuit the House, but that I shall strike him with my sword!" He thus forced them to wear their clothes, and they performed the rite of circumambulation dressed.

Ali delivered the verses from Surah "Al Tawbah” and then said:

"O Men, no unbeliever will enter Paradise; no associationist will perform pilgrimage after this year; and no naked man will be allowed to circumambulate the Holy House. Whoever has entered into a covenant with the Prophet of God-May God's peace and blessing be upon him will have his covenant fulfilled as long as its term lasts."

Ali proclaimed these four instructions to the people and then gave everybody four months of general peace and amnesty during which anyone could return safely home. From that time on no associationist performed the pilgrimage and no naked man circumambulated the Holy House. From that day on, the Islamic state was established.

# Conquest of Mecca

Meccans had seen stunning victories of the Prophet. Now they decided to negotiate with Prophet. Prophet relented and made a peace treaty with them at Hudaibia. However, the Meccans broke this pact within a year. Meccans had killed a Muslim. Prophet decided enough was enough. He would now take Mecca from the pagans. Prophet and his followers entered Mecca almost unopposed on 20 Ramadan, AD 630. The city that had persecuted Mohammed and his early converts was not at his feet. Prophet was back in the place of his birth. Mecca that had expelled its Prophet was back the hands of God. People in Mecca now feared for their lives. Mass slaughter was imminent. However, at this moment of triumph, Prophet decided to forgive the pagans for there past actions against him. Whole of Mecca convert to Islam. Even Abu Sufyan, Prophet’s bitterest enemy, had no choice but to concede defeat. His conversion was a convenient political move. His Mecca lay conquered. But not a single house was plundered, nor any woman insulted. Cruelties, insults and oppression perpetrated during a long period of twenty years were now forgiven. [The rest of the pagan tribes were finally defeated in the Battle of Hunain. The whole of Arabia became muslim.]

Prophet cleared Kaba the House of God of all idols. But it is said that he left picture of Mary and icon of Ibrahim intact in the Kaba. House of God built by Ibrahim was restored for the worship of one true God.

# The Farewell Pilgrimage

In this year 632, the Prophet was ordered by God to perform his last pilgrimage. All the tribes followed him for this great spiritual journey. In the month of Dhulhijja, Prophet carried out all the rituals of Haj. He circled the Kaba in glory of God and traced the footsteps of Abraham and his wife. He stoned the devil and then offered a sasrifice of an animal. He then gave a great sermon at Arafat.

“O People, listen well to my words, for I do not know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Treat others justly so that no one would be unjust to you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed hold you to account. God has forbidden you to take usury (interest). Women have rights. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under God's trust and with His permission. Treat your women well and be kind to them. They are your partners and committed helpers. They should not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve. All mankind is from Adam and Eve. Except piety no person is higher then the other. An Arab has no superiority over an Arab nor non-Arab over Arabs. Whites have no superiority over a blacks nor a blacks over whites. Every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim. They make one nation. Remember that one day you will appear before God and you will answer for your deeds. There will be no prophet after me and no new religion. Use your intellect well. I am leaving you with the Book of God and my own model. If you follow them you will never go astray. All those present should pass on my words those who are absent. O God, be my witness that I have passed your message the people.”

After this sermon Prophet went to Kaba and circled it for the final time. Then he left Mecca and head back to Medina.

History books write that Zaid bin Arkam, one of the disciples of the Prophet says that during his journey back, Prophet stopped at Ghadir Khum. Here Prophet was ordered by God to appoint Ali as his successor. Therefore he asked his followers to make him a temporary pulpit.

Prophet stood on the pulpit at Ghadir and called Ali to come stand with him. He then asked his followers: “Am I not your master?” The pilgrims nodded ‘yes’. Prophet praised God and then said to them: “God is my master [mola] and I am master of the believers. If I am your master then this Ali is your master. O God be a friend of his friends and be an enemy to his enemies, help those who help him and leave those who leave him, and turn the truth to where turns Ali.”

Ali was appointed Prophet’s successor on 18 Dhul Hijja, March 632. Prophet then asked his men to pledge allegiance to Ali. When this was done, God sent Angel Gabriel from heavens with this holy verse: "Today, I have perfected your religion and completed My favour upon you. I have chosen Islam as your Religion." (Quran, chapter 5:3)

Muslims, especially Shias, celebrate Ghadir day as an Eid [holiday] as gratitude to God’s favour upon them and perfection of Islam.

Prophet returned to Medina and suddenly fell ill.

# END OF MOHAMMED

# Last Days of the Prophet

During his illness, the Prophet commissioned an army and appointed 18 year old boy Osama as its general. People did not like that. Older men resented having to take orders from a boy. Nevertheless, Prophet ordered them to enlist in the army and march to Muta and confront the Romans. The Prophet insisted upon its immediate departure. He handed the flag to Osama and said: Go fight the pagans in the name of God.”

But men were not joining the army. Prophet again ordered all the disciples that they must join the army of Osama and move towards the border. Abu Bakr, Omar, Saad bin Abi Waqqas, Uthman were commanded to go under the command of Osama. However, they did not carry out his order. Prophet went on the pulpit. Dispite his illness he gave an angry sermon. Prophet condemned them for disobeying his order. At the end he said: “May God curse those who do not go with Osama’s army.”

History books write that Ibn Abbas says that Prophet was in final days. Abu Bakr and Omar were still in Medina. They came to see the Prophet. He was lying on his deathbed. Other people also joined them. On Thursday four days before his death, the Prophet asked his disciples to bring him pen and paper. He said he wanted to write down something important. It would prevent them from going astray. Omar interjected and said. “No, do not disturb him. He is overcome with fever. We have the Quran. Book of God is enough for us.”

Omar’s words angered people there. They wanted to obey and bring writing material Prophet had asked. Some sided with Omar. There were two groups surrounding the dying Prophet. They began to shout insults at each other. Things began to get out of hands. Men came close to blows. Swords were drawn.

Prophet saw them angry and shouting at each other. He changed his mind about the writing. He ordered them to leave the room. It was not right for them to behave this way in his presence. People had accused him of losing his mind, agreeing with Omar that Prophet was in delirium. Ibn Abbas said it was tragedy people prevented him from making a will. Therefore, Prophet did not write on paper what he wanted to write. It was a miserable Thursday.

Prophet was now alone with his family. On Monday, the day of his death, Fatima wept at his bedside. Hasan placed his face on Prophet’s cheek. Husayn put his head on Prophet chest. Ali sat near holding the head of the Prophet. Ali put Prophet’s head and his own lap. Prophet looked at Ali and said: “O Ali! After me they will give you much trouble. Bear it patiently. Prefer the next world and let people lust after this world.”

Wife of the Prophet Umm Salama says that during his very last moment, the Prophet kept whispering something into Ali’s ear. Ali was the only one to hold and hear the Prophet till his last breath.

Ibn Abbas says Ali was fortunate to have been given honourable tasks: Ali was the first to have prayed with Prophet. In all battles Ali, held was Prophet’s standard-bearer. In Ohad, when people fled from battlefield, Ali alone stood by Prophet and defended him with his life. After his death, Ali lowered the Prophet into the grave.

The holy Prophet Mohammed was 63 years of age when his noble soul left this world and went back to His Lord on High.

Men who helped Ali give funeral bath to Prophet were Abbas, Fadl, Kutham, Osama, Shaqran. They turned and poured water. Ali washed the body of the Prophet. This was Monday 12 Rabi al Awwal, June 632. Prophet’s body lay unburied for three days as men wrangled over power struggle.

Prophet had left behind book of God and Imam Ali for the guidance and leadership of his followers.

Prophet Mohammed passed the sacred knowledge of God to his successor Imam Ali, who continued to teach the world real truth about God. Truth burst out of lips of Mohammed and Ali, the two lights of God. God bless Mohammed and descendents of Mohammed

Aftermath

Today, many historians and writers try to save reputation of Abu Bakr and Omer and Aisha, even at the expense of truth. They sacrifice the facts, and lie about these companions of the Prophet. Writers know that these people did wrong things. These men were in power after the Prophet. Therefore, they invented many false things. They told lies and tried to hide the real events. Some companions of Prophet tried to destroy the truth. But guardians of truth preserved it for humanity. Today any intelligent seeker can see and read it. These early muslims persecuted Mohammed just as his own people in Mecca had turned against him and drove him out of his home. They even did not allow the Prophet to write his last will. When Prophet asked his these men to bring him pen and paper so that he can write for them an important instruction which will prevent them from going astray from truth. Omer and his gang stopped him. They said Prophet has lost his mind he is crazy. Prophet did not write the instruction. He knew the will would have been rejected as of no value since they would claim it was written in insane condition. Next day, Prophet appointed Osama as general and ordered these men to join the army. He ordered them to head immediately for the border to stop Romans from invading Arabia. Again Omer, Abu Bakr and their men refused to go. Prophet came back and lay on his bed. The disloyal men appointed Abu Bakr to lead the prayer. Prophet was told of this. Despite fever, he went straight to the masjid and removed Abu Bakr and led the prayer himself. He died the next morning. Omer and his crew left the dead body and ran to Sakifa hall chose Abu Bakr as their leader. Prophet’s faithful disciples washed his body read prayers over their master. Ali was the heir appointed by the Prophet himself. But Omer and his men rejected Ali. He forced others to accept Abu Bakr. Of 140000 companions, 25000 refused to recognise Abu Bakr. He decided to put an end to this threat. He ordered Khalid Bin Waleed to kill those who refuse to pledge allegiance. Khalid slaughtered them all. This massacre of muslims took place in few weeks and months after the death of Prophet Mohammed.
